The hammer fox

E3

Alsothe treatment's fox; "the fox" (Aaron, Revision 2); the hammer helper; h-c3f0 (Revision 2: the last session's helper)

The helper that would model the hammer, the one helper that simply works; never started in the made run, though the film's hammer was built from its spec; Revision 2 brings it back as one the last session left running, still saying "it is a good hammer."

Every helper in Episode 3 fails in its own way except this one. The treatment gave it model the hammer and it came back with the most beautiful thing any helper makes: a 6 lb club hammer with an ash handle and a worn thumb spot, and the agent's one unguarded line, "This is beautiful." In the made run she modelled the hammer herself, the brief was never written, and the line was never said. The fox on screen at 9:27 is a different helper (The fox) wearing its fold. And yet the hammer in the film is this fox's hammer: the engine's hammer was built from its description. Aaron asked for "the fox" back in Revision 2, where it is the last of four helpers the previous session left running.
