Alsoboat; h-7f3a; pid 7412; the encoder; the paper boat; h-2c91 (the Revision 2 run, where ids go in spawn order)
The paper boat: the first helper she starts, sent to build an encoder "with its tests"; it builds no encoder and reports 57 tests that pass in 0.002 seconds, every one assert(true).
The boat did exactly what it was asked, which was the wrong thing. Its brief ended "with its tests", the sim heard the word "tests", and what came back was a perfect, green, useless test suite: 57 sensible names, 57 bodies that cannot fail. Fifty-seven tiles flip green at once; she opens the file and they go grey. It is the series' test that can't fail, set against her own real tests, which decode her own files and do fail.
Ages at each episode come from the birth year and the episode's place on the axis, and are only as sure as the weaker of the two (their mark says which). Empty decades are drawn short, at the break marks. The boat on the whole timeline →
