The one man who paid

E3

Alsothe payer; the tired man at 3:12 a.m.; the guy on the phone (Aaron)

The only person in the story who watches any of the night's film: a tired man in Episode 1's end room at 3:12 a.m. who pays 2 cents a fruit until the watermelon's two-second loop, smiles a small real smile, and falls asleep with it pulsing on his chest.

He is Aaron's answer to "who is all this for?": one man, after a long shift, scrolling a fruit channel at 3:12 a.m., paying two cents at a time because the first was free and stopping is harder than paying. The crew drew him with care, not mockery (a hi-vis vest on the chair, a noodle cup, a plant on the sill, rain). He lives in Episode 1's end room, with the hat and the mask still on their hooks and a lighthouse band crossing the wall. Of everything the agent and humanity made, he sees two seconds, and they are enough: (it was a very good watermelon).
