AlsoFour-Twelve (the story); Episode 1's music video; RED IS THE THING THAT'S LEAVING
The caller's small-hours story "Four-Twelve" (a sodium lamp clicks off and the only red left is somebody's brake lights, leaving), turned by the host into a lesson and by all four voices into Episode 1's music video, whose last chorus lands on the Storm Bell at 25:00.000; its line returns as a red beacon (E2) and in humanity's work song (E3).
The music video: Jefrie sings the chorus over the painting, "Red is the thing that's leaving".{E1 24:30}edit

A quick storyboard of the story the song was made from, which no episode shows: "Four-Twelve", the sodium lamp turning a red car, mailbox and sign orange; 4:12, the lamp off, early blue; brake lights leaving; the empty lot. Painted in Episode 1's oil.Placeholdermade as a quick reference, not in any episode yet, free to change.{made 2026-10-23 by lore-placeholders; not in any episode; free to change}edit
The caller gives the host a story he has been carrying since 4:12: a parking-lot lamp that turns everything orange, the moment it clicks off and nothing is red any more except a pair of brake lights getting smaller. "Red is the thing that's leaving. ... I needed to give it to somebody." The host turns it into a painting lesson, and after the break it becomes the music video: the caller sings the verse, Jefrie the chorus, the host the bridge about fat over lean, the pitchman the ad-libs, and all four the final chorus that turns it round ("but we're the thing that's staying"), landing on the bell. Red is what leaves; the painting is what stays.
