Dez is the hype Episode 2 runs on: fast, delighted, accurate about rockets and blind about people. He talks over the girl the first time she speaks, and thinks she is doing a bit. Then he hears "That was eleven days ago." and says nothing at all, for the only time in his life; then, quietly, the right question. Then he is back at full volume. It is not a redemption, and nobody pretends it is.
